KlariusQH Waterpumps Review 2011
21st December 2011
QH brand water pumps lead the market in terms of quality, OE supply and aftermarket availability
As Europe’s largest manufacturer of automotive water pumps for both OE customers and the aftermarket, the Klarius Group brand QH has been established for over 60 years and is now moving forwards faster than ever before in terms of international sales, distribution, R&D and manufacturing.
Made in the UK for OE and aftermarket
The QH Colwyn Bay plant based in North Wales, UK, is the group centre for design, test and manufacture of water pumps and related engine ancillary equipment. Working directly for volume car manufacturers such as Volvo, Nissan and GM, plus prestige brands such as Land Rover Jaguar and Aston Martin, the plant supplies volume parts for new car production that are designed, tested and manufactured to an industry leading level of quality.
This expertise is replicated unflinchingly in the parts the company makes as replacements both sold as manufacturers original equipment and as replacement parts for the general aftermarket. Thanks to the company’s heritage there are a huge range of vehicles on the road today which were fitted with QH parts as original equipment.
Investment means guaranteed supply and price competitiveness
The Colwyn Bay operation has recently completed a range of updates and investment schemes as part of its continuous development as a super-lean and cost-efficient manufacturing operation.
The entire life-cycle of the product is taken care of at this facility; starting with an original design concept, then moving through to product performance development and rigorous long-term durability testing. Once a design has been signed-off either internally or by the manufacturer then it can go into full production without leaving the site.
The production process starts with ingots of high grade aluminium and finishes with a complete, boxed and tested product - ready for distribution to anywhere in the world. The factory is unusual in that it operates its own smelting and casting plant, allowing QH to stay in total control of quality and production volumes at every step of the process. The plant features prominently in the Klarius Group stable of world-class manufacturing operations.
Having invested heavily in its European manufacturing plants over the last four years, the Klarius Group has recently found itself in a unique position of being able to find additional manufacturing capacity at very short notice in order to satisfy demands for over 100,000 parts per month to keep EU car plants in production as a result of disruption in the supply chain from Asia.
First on the market with new products
Lean manufacturing techniques and a focus on OE quality are proving successful with the aftermarket and OE manufacturers. The production cycle has been reduced in terms of the time it takes to get a new product to market, which in-turn means there are several new QH products ready for market every month. Combining this with a huge back-catalogue means both the latest products and the hardest to find are available to distributors stocking QH water pumps alongside popular requirements, ensuing they are far more likely to be able to satisfy customer demand.
